Projetos que visam em primeira análise promover a música portuguesa, são de extrema importância para todo um património imaterial que de forma intrínseca promove a identidade cultural Portuguesa. Projetos que visam ainda, promover a música portuguesa de autor, nomeadamente autores da contemporaneidade, revela-se na minha perspetiva ainda mais válido e importante. Em poucas palavras essa perspetiva assenta no facto de uma iniciativa com tais características promover a aproximação da expressão musical dos nossos dias, ao património musical e imaterial da nossa música Portuguesa.

O projeto Frutos Maduros, de Pedro Santos e João Pedro Silva, é no meu entender convergente nesses dois domínios, transformando-se por isso num exemplo totalmente válido e importante nesta atualidade. Sublinho por isso, a importância desta candidatura ao Programa de Apoio a Projetos da Direção – Geral das Artes.

Finalmente resta-me acrescentar, que para além das características individuais artísticas destes dois músicos, sendo estas de uma qualidade inquestionável e provada, é importante aqui referir todo o trabalho em parceria que estes têm vindo a desenvolver ao longo de mais de duas décadas. Sei seguramente que, para além da qualidade inquestionável, o trabalho continuado se irá traduzir no resultado final deste projeto, com uma maturidade e coesão muito singulares.

Projects whose primary aim is to promote Portuguese music are of great importance to an entire body of intangible heritage that intrinsically contributes to the affirmation of Portuguese cultural identity. Projects that also seek to promote Portuguese art music, particularly the work of contemporary composers, are, in my view, even more relevant and important. In brief, this perspective is based on the fact that an initiative of this nature brings the musical expression of our own time closer to the musical and intangible heritage of Portuguese culture.

The Frutos Maduros project, by Pedro Santos and João Pedro Silva, is, in my view, situated precisely at the intersection of these two domains and therefore constitutes a particularly relevant and valuable example in the present context. I would therefore like to emphasise the importance of this application to the Directorate – General for the Arts’ Project Support Programme.

Finally, I would add that, beyond the individual artistic qualities of these two musicians—qualities that are both unquestionable and well established—it is important to acknowledge the collaborative work they have developed over more than two decades. I am confident that, in addition to their unquestionable artistic quality, this sustained collaboration will be reflected in the final outcome of the project, lending it a particularly distinctive degree of maturity and cohesion.
