🇬🇧 During a small portion of the long secular history of the present village of Mafra, it was occupied by the Moors for about 436 years. It is curious that few traces of this occupation remain. In this fantasy for wind orchestra, two central themes are explored, which despite originating from an imaginary folklore, could, from a personal perspective, “be” from a moment in the history of this village. They are also heard at another moment in its existence as a mourisca, an ancient dance originating from North Africa and its peoples. Mahfara is its Arabic name. 🇵🇹 Durante uma pequena parte da história secular da atual vila de Mafra, esta foi ocupada pelos Mouros por cerca de 436 anos. Não deixa de ser curioso que poucos sejam os vestígios desta ocupação. Nesta fantasia para orquestra de sopros, são tratados dois temas centrais, que apesar de terem origem num folclore imaginário, que numa perspetiva pessoal poderiam “ser” de um momento da história desta vila. Estes são também num outro momento da sua existência, ouvidos como uma mourisca, uma antiga dança oriunda do Norte de África e dos seus povos. Mahfara é o nome seu nome Árabe.
