Navelgas was written following a stay in the homonymous village in Asturias, where I took part in a world music festival with the band “MARENOSTRUM”. The work clearly emerges from the lived context: the festival environment, the contact with musicians from different backgrounds, and the informal dynamics typical of this kind of gathering.
The musical material results from this concrete experience rather than from any descriptive intention toward the place itself. Rhythm, collective energy, and the circulation of ideas are the main driving forces of the musical discourse, within an open language where composition and improvisation coexist naturally.

Navelgas foi escrita a partir de uma estadia na vila homónima situada nas Asturias, onde participei num festival de world music com a banda “MARENOSTRUM”. A obra nasce claramente do contexto vivido, do ambiente do festival, do contacto com músicos de diferentes origens e da dinâmica informal própria deste tipo de encontros.
O material musical resulta dessa experiência concreta, mais do que de uma intenção descritiva do lugar. Ritmo, energia coletiva e circulação de ideias são os principais motores do discurso musical, numa linguagem aberta, onde escrita e improvisação coexistem de forma natural.
